News from the Houston Hospital
Our hospital has been busy these last couple of months. The Houston Hospital has been awarded a fully funded Neurological study. There were twenty-one research proposals submitted from all of the hospitals and only eight of these were granted. The Houston hospital was fortunate to receive one of these eight research grants. Our hospital is lucky to have a great medical staff and great leaders in their respective fields.
On February 28, the hospital opened up a new day surgery area. This will allow the hospital to treat more patients per day. It is always a good thing when we can treat more kids. Those treatments that impact the rest of their lives.
Recently, our Houston Hospital held clinics in the Laredo and Rio Grande Valley areas. With humanitarian visas not as available as they once were, there is some reduction in patients coming from Mexico.
The Houston Hospital is working with those patients and assisting family in filing the proper visas to come and receive treatment. The Houston Hospital has a large area of responsibility treating kids all over the state of Texas and North East Mexico. Listed below are the next outreach clinics dates.
El Paso April 13th Amarillo May 11th & 12th Laredo Clinic Aug 2nd & 3rd
We recently had the “Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic” March the 3rd - 5th and it was a huge success. The classic shattered attendance records bringing in a total of 53,495 fans breaking the last record of 48,839 set back in 2006. Thank you for your support and allowing me the honor of representing Suez on the Houston Board of Governors.
Yours in faith, James Hawkins - Associate Member Houston Hospital Board of Governors
